My Journey with ticup

I created ticup to support English-speaking expats in their journey, while staying connected to the English community that feels like home. It’s a way for me to remain a part of the world I love, bringing a piece of England into my life in France.

After living in England for 30 years, returning to France felt like leaving my true home behind. I missed the sense of community and familiarity I had in the UK. That’s why I started ticup: to help other English-speaking expats navigate life here while staying connected to what feels like home.

My Story

Growing up in France and then spending three decades in England, I’ve come to appreciate the richness of living between two cultures. While England felt like home, returning to France has been a journey of reconnecting with my roots while finding new ways to stay connected to the English-speaking community I cherish. This duality is what inspired me to create ticup—a way to blend these two worlds and support others who, like me, are navigating life in a foreign country.

The Joy of Learning Through Design

One of the things I love most about my job is the opportunity to explore so many different worlds. I love researching, and every new project is a chance to learn about something new. Over the years, I’ve worked with businesses from diverse fields—fly fishing, caricature art, farmer’s markets, and charities, to name a few. Each project has its own unique story and challenges, and I enjoy diving into the details, understanding the trade, and discovering what makes it special. Every job is different, and I learn something new each time—whether it’s about a specific trade or something that helps me grow in my own work.

Expanding Beyond Design: A Community Vision

While designing websites is at the heart of ticup, I’ve always envisioned something more. I want to create a space where expats can feel a sense of connection and support—a place that brings people and businesses together. It’s not just about building websites; it’s about building a community. I dream of creating a network where we can share experiences, collaborate, and help each other succeed in this unique journey of living between cultures. Whether it’s through shared resources, partnerships, or simply having a place to connect, I hope to make ticup a small, welcoming corner of home for all of us navigating life abroad.

Conclusion:

ticup represents more than just a business idea; it’s a way for me to stay connected to the English-speaking community that has always felt like home. I’m excited to see where this journey will take me and the people I meet along the way. Together, we’re not just building websites—we’re building connections, one project at a time.
